ABOUT THE PROJECT
Coffee Renewal AI is an artificial intelligence system in development for optimizing bioactive compound extraction processes from coffee waste, targeting the natural cosmetic ingredients market.
Developed in collaboration with Renatus Coffee, the product aims to automate and optimize waste valorization through advanced technology.
System Architecture
We are building a platform that integrates spectroscopic analysis with machine learning models. We use IBM Quantum for complex molecular simulations that inform our optimization algorithms.
The system core combines TensorFlow for yield prediction with Qiskit for quantum modeling of molecular interactions. This hybrid architecture allows us to tackle computational problems that would be intractable with classical methods alone.
Features in Development
The first version of the product will include modules for composition analysis using NIR/FTIR data, prediction of caffeine and polyphenol concentrations, and recommendations for optimal extraction parameters (temperature, pressure, time).
We are working on the interface that will allow operators to upload analysis data and receive actionable recommendations to maximize the yield of specific compounds based on the target cosmetic product.
Development is backed by prior research in computational chemistry and our ongoing work with real samples provided by Renatus Coffee.

IoT containers automatically detect when a capsule is deposited using weight and volume sensors. The mobile app scans the container QR code and records the action on blockchain, awarding redeemable points. The system optimizes collection routes based on real-time fill levels.
Users accumulate points for each recycled capsule that can be redeemed for coffee discounts, sustainable products or donated to environmental projects. They also have access to their reduced carbon footprint and verifiable sustainability certificates on blockchain.
Each deposited capsule generates an immutable blockchain record including: deposit point, date/time, user (anonymous), and final material destination. This enables complete audits and total transparency of the circular economy process.
The system automatically separates aluminum (capsules), organic coffee (compost) and plastic (if applicable). Aluminum is 100% recycled, coffee becomes high-quality compost, and any plastic is processed for new products. Separation efficiency exceeds 95%.
